I have Courier-IMAP 2.0 installed under RedHat 9 on a Dell server. I compiled it with LDAP authentication and the workarounds for imap client bugs. It works fine until I try to make my Mozilla 1.4 IMAP client display my folders at the top level instead of as sub-folders of the Inbox. I know this has been discussed before, but I can't seem to find a configuration that works properly.
In the Mozilla 'Advanced IMAP Server Settings' box, I have set the 'IMAP server directory' to INBOX. and the 'Personal namespace' box to "". I have unchecked 'Show only subscribed folders', and 'Allow server to override these namespaces'. It appears to work correctly in that it displays the folders at the top level, and I can create and delete folders at the top level or in any folder or sub-folder.
The problem appears when I exit from Mozilla and then re-run it. When I open the email client, my folders are all displayed, just as I left them when I exited previously. When I login, however, the folders all disappear and only the Inbox is displayed. If I close the list by clicking on the little triangle, and then re-open it, the top level folders are all back again, so although that is a nuisance, I could live with it.
The big problem is that my email client doesn't know about my extra folders at all until I close and re-open the list. So if I have filters defined to move mail into one of those folders, and there is mail in my Inbox that triggers the filter, it fails because it can't find the destination folder and the filter is disabled.
I have done most of my testing using Mozilla, but the problem seems to exist for Outlook Express as well. Is this a bug in the new version of Courier-IMAP? Are there config options for the client or server that would solve this problem? Any help greatly appreciated.
