What is the recommended way for rotating courier logs? Do I somehow pause/halt courier while moving the current log file, and then restart courier?
Courier logs to syslog. Check the documentation for your syslog facility for instructions on rotating files.
Usually, you only need to rename the syslog file, and then SIGHUP the syslog daemon.
Similarly, how should I go about updating .mailfilter files? What happens if I'm attempting to update .mailfilter and courier is currently
processing that file...? What is the recommended procedure for that?
The suggested procedure is to save a new filter file under a different name, then rename it as .mailfilter, using mv.
