Hi!

I would like to see following feature in courier.

if couier gets a mail via smtp from outside, it should insert the the from and
to's into a database table. an send the other user a temp error. with the
from and to in the table there should be also a time stamp. if the other
server tries to send the mail again look into the table and check if X min
have past. if so, accept the mail and deliver it, and remove the entry. if
we don't get a resend for X days remove the entry from the table.

there should also some known from-to combination that get through right way.
e.g. by adding them to that table after the resending works.

why that all? spammers don't have to time to resend mails, and it can be done
even on a very large scale, and it doesn't make a difference if the first
mail, from at this time unknow user, gets delayed e.g. 30min.

You would be more likely to get this feature (I think) if you wrote a global filter to do it for you.

My initial reaction is that Sam's going to figure this isn't worth his time, since he has so many other things to do for Courier. (Though I could be wrong, as I'm not him... obviously. :)

But AFAICT, this is the type of thing (like many other spam/virus fighting methods) for which a global filter implementation is the perfect solution. So, I'd encourage you to look into that as an option.
