Look at you go - along with the mkdir and rmdir stuff you might want to consider functions to manage Maildir folders and shared folders... then folder creation and subscription could be automated?
Just a random thought.
There's some danger that this kind of creeping featuritis will turn maildrop into Perl.
After thinking about this a bit: I'd rather have a generic plug-in infrastructure, and exploit that for this, and other things.
