 ok....I am a SERIOUS NEWB!!  My apologies for this...as I was typing 
back the answer...it all became very clear....the line says "switch to 
su and do the make install (enter root password)  --  lots of srcipt 
output... when I was looking at the info...I somehow thought it would 
ask for a root password after it was done....my bad.
