Hello:

I am running into the following problem, when trying to login via POP:

bash-2.05b$ telnet ##.##.###.### 110
Trying ##.##.###.###...
Connected to hostname.
Escape character is '^]'.
+OK Hello there.
user luked
+OK Password required.
pass abc
-ERR Maildir: Not a directory
Connection closed by foreign host.

(Naturally, this is a test user and password)

Latest stable Debian Woody, and the latest version of courier available as
a deb.

Configuration was handled through webadmin, and other than there being a
problem with pop3d-ssl being missing from /usr/bin (I think this is a
Debian packaging error--there have been others), everything goes smoothly
with the configuration process.

I have users setup to use maildirs, via "custom" entry in the local mail
config screen. (the only thing it will let me save currently). In any
case, I think mail is successfully getting where it is going, although
since pine doesn't work with maildirs at the moment, I can't be 100% sure
(a Maildir was created, and populated, when mail was first sent to the
account on a successful configuration).

Here is the ls -l, of /home, /home/luked, and /home/luked/Maildir,
respectively. While I see some group mismatch, I doubt it is the problem
(maybe be quite wrong here):

drwxrwsr-x 5 root staff 4096 Oct 18 19:45 home/
drwxr-xr-x 4 luked 1000 4096 Oct 24 17:23 luked/
-rw------- 1 luked users 915 Oct 24 17:19 Maildir

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Luke
