Ok, so I read that authpam uses the pam subsystem to authenticate, but it does not use it to determine home directory info, which is pulled from the system password files.

My question is this: How, exactly, does courier-imap pull that info. I am using winbind, so if you make a generalized call ( I think getent or something of that nature ), you'll get the home directory information, but if you read directly from the passwd file, you won't get the info you need.

I'm somewhat scared to try this as I don't have a development server to play with it on. I'm hoping that someone has done this or something like it, and can tell me how it works.
