So after some investigations I found out that if I make defaultdelivery
with the '-w 90', courier/maildrop discards the Return-Path: headers :-(
Is that a bug ?
No, a âfeatureâ. This is vaguely referred in the courier(8) man's page for
the âmaildropâ configuration file:
This file contains one line whose contents is a pathname to the
maildrop(1) mail delivery agent. If Courier knows that the delivery
agent used to delivery mail locally is maildrop(1) then certain delivery
optimizations are possible.
Well, one of them is to have maildrop prepend the Delivered-To: and
Return-Path: headers in the manner that does not require creating a
temporary copy of the message for filtering purpose. As far as the mail
filter is concerned the headers are part of the message, but it's not.
This is done by automatically appending some options to maildrop, but by
specifying a custom invocation of maildrop, Courier doesn't know how to do
this any more. So, it's now your responsibility to insert the headers.
Unless you're handling high mail volume, the easiest way to do that is to
use the preline filterâ
