That's the one. This problem has been around for a while but seemed to have been fixed in the last beta version 3.6.1.20031119. It appears to have returned with 3.6.2 (I should have included version numbers in the original post).
3.6.2 compiles fine on Fedora, with DB 4.1.25

This seems to have been based on conversation with Jim Gifford. I've seen problems with both DB 4.1.25 on FreeBSD platforms. Does anyone recall what platform Jim was using? Is Jim still a list member?
