well, that sounds easy, but I donÂt know where to start on that. How would such a script look like? On what criteria should the newsletter author be authenticated? Simple checks against from-address will easiliy be forged, donÂt? I am totally blocked on that.

hosts. So if I want to add a newsletter to a virtual domain, wouldnÂt
it be a good idea to use the existing smtp-auth mechanisms to
authenticate the newsletter author against the mysql db? How could
this be implemented?

See above. A succesfull SMTP authentication will have stuff record in headers.

Have your shell script check those headers.
