Are you also on a Debian system?
Nope, I tried the filters on a RedHat 9 System, but did choose to not compile mysql- and fax-support so I have changed the spec-file a bit.

WRT the spec, you know that the current versions of the rpm build script allow you to "rpmbuild --without fax --without mysql -ta courier-<ver>.tar.gz", right? No spec file hacking is required.
