What reason is there to respond to a "user unknown" with transient error code instead of a permanent failure ? ..like this:

i've seen this a couple of times now and the mail hangs in the queue for 4 days until it's bounced ...
This message comes from the remote mail server, and has nothing to do with Courier.
Because it's stupid.
