I had asked if it was going to be included in p8 when it first was announced, and got the following reply from Mark Martinec ([EMAIL PROTECTED]). Any follow-ups on this particular topic would probably best be sent to the amavis-user list.

I just re-created the patch so that it applies cleanly to -p8,
otherwise I am not able to test it and am not maintaining it myself.

It certainly won't be roled into the amavisd-new-20030616* stable branch.
What will happen with the next major release is still far away.
Depending on those caring for Courier, anything may happen.

Thanks. It makes sense now! :)

I didn't notice the patch sitting there until you mentioned it. Why
does the distribution ship with a patch rather than just merging the
changes into the distribution? It also would have been useful if the
readme had mentioned the patch.

Assuming you're using the p7 or p8 versions, you'll need to apply a
courier-specific patch (which I recall comes bundled in the dist)
before those instructions will make sense.

I am attempting to configure amavisd-new as a courierfilter and I
have run into a problem following the instructions in the readme.

README.courier:
    In amavisd.conf:
    - uncomment the lines setting $forward_method and
$notify_method for courier

However, there are no settings in the amavisd.conf file for Courier.
What should I use for these variables?

Is there a better howto somewhere for this setup?
