Trying to install courier on a fedora sytem that is running postfix
version 2.0.11-5. After building the courier rpms from the source like so
rpmbuild -ta courier-0.45.2.tar.bz2
as a non root user and trying to install the rpm files as root I get an
error.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] i386]$ su

[EMAIL PROTECTED] i386]# rpm -Uvh courier*.rpm

courier-0.45.2-1.1 conflicts with file from package

There is no indication of any errors or problems while building the rpm
files. After searching couriers website for a while I managed ro produce
zero evidence that I would need to do anything special to get courier and
postfix installed on the same machine.

So you want an imap server, then just install the standalone Courier-IMAP package, and *not* the rpm's for the full Courier package you created above.
Or, remove postfix and run everything you need with what you built above...
