Is anyone here successfully using amavisd-new as a courierfilter? I
am attempting this, but not having much luck.

No matter what I do, Amavisd generates an error and rejects encrypted zip
files.

TROUBLE in check_mail: virus_scan FAILED: Can't create hard link
     /home/vscan/amavis-20040327T040212-29354/email.txt: No such file
or directory at /usr/local/sbin/amavisd line 5410.

In trying to track this down, I have found that the email.txt file is
never created. Courier apparently sends the email across through the
socket. Amavis creates the separate email parts to be scanned, but
never saves the entire message. This causes the error above when
something like an encrypted zip makes Amavis want to save the entire
message for scanning.

If anyone is using this configuration now, I would be interested in
hearing whether they have this problem. Unless I'm missing something
(which is quite likely) this looks like a bug in the Courier patch to
Amavisd.
