I made the change. I had to create the file /usr/local/courier/etc/esmtproutes, it wasn't there. I restarted courier. Now, how can I test that it is working properly?
Start tcpdump or (t)ethereal on your internet interface ('tcpdump -i <interface> port 25') and send a mail. Watch if the traffic is destined for the smarthost or to the MX for your recipient.
