You could probably find the answer by searching through the previous messages - last discussion about similar problem was last week.
Anyway,

esmtproutes affects outgoing mail, and has nothing to do with incoming mail.when I try to send email from another client on the internal network via the courier machine I get the 517 - Bad Domain MX record, please shoot your admin error.
Reading the archive (via google), FAQ and 3.3.9 of
RFC1035 doc the short term solution is to add
mydomain.us: [my.external.ip.here]
to /etc/courier/esmtproutes
and the long term solution is to change my MX0 recordMX record should contain only name of host, not IP address, according to RFC 1035 (last week there was pretty much arguing about that recommendation on this list).
from my.ip.here.200 to mydomain.us.
I also tried the IP in /etc/courier/esmtproutes withSince this server is on your internal network, changes should be visible as soon as you restart named daemon.
and with out brackets and also tried my internal IP in
that file. Everything is hosted on the same IP - I
don't have a seperate IP for mail and other services.
Is this correct? I made the /etc/courier/esmtproutes
file and made the change to my MX record - the error
persists. If I made the correct change in my DNS
file, should this resolve it self in a few days
*crosses fingers* when the change filteres through the
net? Here is my log...

Before i go and shoot my admin(me), what else should I
try?
I also did that few months ago so I know how you feel. Thanks in advance, setting up a real mail server from source has been challenge and an excellent learning experience! Thanks for everyone's patience!
