Yes.  I had originally opted not to do this for bandwidth reasons (long
ago), but it does seem the more valid option.  I think I'm going to port
Mail::Verify to PHP (there is an rfc822 library in the PEAR archives,
but it seems overly complex and doesn't do half of the stuff that the
perl library does).

I think I should also retract my previous complaints about courier not
processing the full range of rfc 822 addresses.  It has either been
fixed since I last tried, or I wasn't trying hard enough (Evolution
doesn't deal with them, but I can send from pine - even if it does strip
the spaces out of " [ @ ] "@mydomain).  Maybe I'll check for an rfc 822
bug for Evolution.
