This release fixes a number of bugs, adds improved logging, and refactors
some configuration file changes. It is important to strictly follow the
stated upgrade procedure if upgrading to this release (that is, run make
install-configure), otherwise you'll get a non-functioning server.

If you're maintaining pre-built packages, you must make sure that the
upgrade procedure is correctly followed when installing the new version.

This release will be announced on this mailing list only, so that the
warnings above are heeded. It does not add any major new functionality, so
more public announcements are not needed; and given the potential for
breakage I'd prefer that the more technically-apt audience here gets the
first crack here, and finds any lurking problems that will need to be fixed
quickly. Changes:

â MIME-encoding of recipients' names follows RFC 2047 more closely.

â Subject-based folder sorting follows the specification more closely by
converting the subject to UTF-8.

â Added logging messages in many places.

â Fixed race condition that can cause an infinite loop if checking new mail
results in a filesystem overquota.

â Several compilation errors fixed with gcc 3.4.

â Removed the authmodulelist configuration file. Authentication modules must
be set in the corresponding server's configuration file now.

â Received: header now include the internal message queue id, making it
easier to find messages in mail logs.

â --version option to the courier command. New configuration setting
ESMTP_LOG_DIALOG that logs commands received by the ESMTP server.

â maildrop changed so that exit statement inside an exception block now
really terminates filtering, instead of continuing after the exception
block.

â If the POP3 server gets a disk error when sending a message, drop the
connection instead of terminating transmission, and making the POP3 client
think the message was received succesfully.
