Reversing that IP address shows that it is imo-m22.mx.aol.com - clearly within the "aol.com" domain, and according to the documentation, this should have been accepted.
Our first guess is that this is a subdomain issue (courier is seeing "mx.aol.com" as the domain and not bothering to look further). If this is the case, either courier should be fixed to match further up the subdomain change, or the docs should be ammended to mention this issue so that it can be avoided.
I reviewed this code and determined that this can occur if there was a temporary DNS error resolving the IP address back to the hostname.
This will be fixed in the next release.
