I'm pretty sure that I compiled courier as the same user.  

The funny thing is that I did this last Friday and I could send/recieve mail up
until this morning at about 10:00...  I don't know what changed.  I did read
another posting that said a lock file had the wrong permisions on it in
/var/spool/courier/tmp I tried looking there but that directory doesn't exist.
Do you know which config file that tmp directory is specified?

I ran courier-config and it is running as daemon:courier
