I am having a problem compiling courier-imap-3.0.5.tar.bz2

I am currently running courier-imap-2.0.0-1.8.0 with no problems,
courier has always compiled just fine for me, but now we are trying
to upgrade to 3.0.5.

during the compilation i get the following at the end:

INFO: LOGOUT, user=user1, ip=[127.0.0.1], headers=0, body=0
INFO: LOGIN, user=user1, ip=[127.0.0.1], protocol=IMAP
INFO: LOGOUT, user=user1, ip=[127.0.0.1], headers=0, body=0
make[1]: *** [check-am] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/cust/s/i/signal/rpm/BUILD/courier-imap-3.0.5/imap'
make: *** [check-recursive] Error 1
error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.62039 (%build)

This is after a "rpmbuild -ta courier-imap-3.0.5.tar.bz2". It seems to compile
almost everything and that error comes at the very end. I have no clue
as to what the problem is. The IMAP connections all seemed to go without
a hitch (during the tests), as I have famd running and portmap.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I did notice in the archive that others have
asked this same question but were unable to get an answer, hopefully someone
has figured this out by now.
