Hello

I recently upgraded from courier-imap 2.2.1 to 3.0.3, and I can't get Outbox
support working. My experience is basically the same as this bug report:

""" I upgraded a server a week ago, and just noticed that this feature is no
longer functioning - all mail I've sent since the upgrade never got smtp'd out.
There are no errors in mail.log. """

(from http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=241965 -- there are also
instructions on how to reproduce the problem.)

# More on my setup

I've installed from scratch versions 2.2.1, 3.0.0, 3.0.5, and 3.0.3 from the
FreeBSD ports collection. When installing it myself I use:

./configure --without-authshadow --sysconfdir=/usr/local/etc/courier-imap
--with-userdb=/usr/local/etc/userdb
--libexecdir=/usr/local/libexec/courier-imap
--enable-workarounds-for-imap-client-bugs --disable-root-check
--with-locking-method=fcntl --without-authvchkpw --without-authldap
--without-authmysql --without-authpgsql --with-authdaemon --with-authpam
--without-authcram --datadir=/usr/local/sbin

I use qmail for my MTA. Mail sends fine (locally and remotely) following the
method in the imapd configuration file ("$SENDMAIL -oi -t -f $SENDER").

If I install courier-imap 2.2.1, Outbox works. When I install 3.0.0 or above,
Outbox isn't working for me. I've been careful about configuration files;
nothing apart from courier-imap is changing on my system.

# My question

Is anybody using the Outbox functionality successfully with courier-imap 3.0.0
or above? If you are, what MTA and courier-imap compile-time options are you
using?

I've been searching mailing lists and the www and can only find the bug report
above about this problem, which leads me to think it could be a problem with my
own setup. Any hints on how to diagnose would be most helpful!

(On the other hand, if it does look like a bug, where would be the best place
in the code for me to start figuring out where it is? My code skills aren't
great, but I'll try.)

many thanks
Matt
