Hello again:

LDAP lookups succeed, thanks for all the assistance. However, I now see
this error:

cat rfcerr2046.txt | maildrop -d [EMAIL PROTECTED]
maildrop: signal 0x0B

The LDAP database is happy, reporting a successful lookup. A little
Googling reveals that 0x0B is a segfault, and that using gcc 3.3+ might
alleviate the problem (albeit on Solaris). I'm on a Debian Linux
system, using the gcc-3.0 package (gcc 3.0.4).

I don't see anything tossed in a log anywhere which would help me
further.
