Well, I only tried putting "INBOX" in on a lark - however, I did try
destroying my original Maildirs (new system - no loss) and using the
exact path given, as opposed to going to the virtual directory itself
and using "maildirmake ./Maildir". The results were no different - at
this point, neither Evolution nor Webmail can make a connection to the
server, remembering that authentication seems not to be the issue.

Evolution's message when attempting a connection is:

Error while 'Scanning folders in "IMAP server 192.168.0.4"':
Server unexpectedly disconnected: Unknown error

(I'm testing internally right now, hence the internal IP number)

And again, Webmail's message is:

ERROR : Connection dropped by imap-server.
Query: SELECT "INBOX"

If it helps at all, here's what my directory tree looks like, cutting
out irrelevant branches and giving owners, groups and permissions of
each directory:

home-- (root:root 777)
     |
     maildirs -- (courier:courier 777)
               |
               domainone.com (courier:courier 755)
               | |
               | userofone (courier:courier 755)
               | |
               | Maildir (created by maildirmake)
               | (courier:courier 700)
               |
               domaintwo.com (courier:courier 755)
                           |
                           useroftwo (courier:courier 755)
                                   |
                                   Maildir (created by maildirmake)
                                           (courier:courier 700)

I've done this on a non-virtual setup, using the same userdb
authentication file. So I'm not sure what else needs to change to this
to go - especially frustrating, since I've gotten this to work in a
previous setup.

Again, thanks for any help supplied.
