Background: I installed Courier from rpms and edited the configuration files to be mostly the same as the server I'm replacing. Once I started it up, I realized that sendmail was still active on port 25. I shut down and removed sendmail and then restarted Courier. Now nothing is listening on port 25. Thinking that removing sendmail after installing Courier may have caused some problems, I removed and reinstalled the courier rpms. Still nothing on port 25.
Did you run 'service courier restart'?
