Hello,
Looking the logs for courier I have seen this message that I found very strange:
Sep 19 04:15:46 svr courierlocal: Error: stuck delivery, PID 12440, sending signal 15
Anyone knows what means that? perhaps it is not related but this message appeared on the log just for one user and just days before this user started to not receive messages, they started to be queued instead of delivered inmediately. After this, something happened (I still don't know) and this user started to received all the emails queued. This just happened to this particular user. Unfortunetly the logs does not says much about the queueing/dequeuing of emails.
This message is logged if a delivery of a single message to a local mail account does not complete in fifteen minutes.
Fix whatever gets invoked from the recipient's account .courier file. It's broken.
What if the user does not have a .courier nor a .forward nor any dotfile that could have been executed? where else should I look to?
If no account-specific delivery instructions exist, the global delivery instructions are executed, as specified in the courierd configuration file.
If you are invoked a custom program to deliver mail, for some reason it breaks for this specific account only. If you believe that you do not use an external program to deliver mail, and you believe that Courier delivers the message for this account directly to the mailbox, without any intervening steps, this indicates serious internal corruption, and warrants a reinstall.
