Maildirs as used by Courier contain a : in the file title, which is IIRC illegal under Windows. Even if Postfix doesn't write maildirs like that, Courier will when it moves the files from new/ to cur/.
Try getting a real storage solution. FYI the university I am at has a couple of those boxes as our home drives, every time the power goes down they spend a day restoring stuff as the drives themselves get quite severe corruption. No, they haven't heard of a UPS.
