Hi, for some days I try to setup shared folders now, but only with limited success. I managed to get them in several email clients (KMail, Thunderbird, Outlook Express), but the access rights is still not clear. All of the clients behave similar for these folders, so I suspect that none of them is to blame.
I've setup file system based authentication. For the INBOX anything is working as expected. The owner can create subfolders from all those clients. For testing purposes I have created two maildirs for the shared folders. One is located in my home and one is somewhere else, where I want to create public folders. The folders of both maildirs can be subscribed and are properly shown in the mail clients. It is possible to store mails in these folders, but I cannot create subfolders. OE at least reports missing permission "c", Kmail and TB just ignore the request. If I want to open the security tab in Kmail, it tells me about the missing "a" permission. What surprises me is, that I am not even the owner of that shared folders, that are located in my home. At first I tried to set permissions for directories and files with chmod. Meanwhile I tried anything using "maildiracl" and tried to set permissions in the maildirs of the shared folders directly or by setting them for the private folder with INBOX.shared.<name>.<folder>, but nothing happens in the clients, they still all behave the same. What do I have to do to modify the permissions on the shared folders? How can I change the ownership ... or that the owner is identified as such? Are subfolders possible at all, since shared folders are just links into the directories of the other maildirs ? - Jrg ------------------------------------------------------- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users.
