Um... isn't maildrop running embedded... which means rejecting is then safe since it goes to the sending MTA and not some dubious from address or whatever.
Embedded mode is something else entirely.... /etc/courier/maildroprc and .mailfilter aren't used during embedded mode.
Final thought of the night: wouldn't rejecting on prohibited filenames/extensions be better off being incorporated into esmtpd... its not exactly an uncommon thing to do.
Given the ease of doing so in a courierfilter, I wouldn't really care to see it integrated into Courier's smtpd. The simpler smtpd remains, the more I trust it to remain secure.
