Hello, I'm using courier imap in a virtual-only setup, and I have courier imapd running on a port >1024.
For that setup, there is no need to have courier running as root. However, tcpd tries to setgid, etc., so I've applied the following patch: http://troels.arvin.dk/mail/courier/imap/courier-imap-4.0.1-conditional-id-change.patch The IMAP init-scripts echo unneeded output if IMAP_UMASK isn't specified.
