authdaemond is started. I've done it before starting my sqwebmaild.
Check your software version. courier-authlib requires sqwebmail 5.0, or higher.
There are also some reports that the debian port may have a problem.
Build courier-authlib and sqwebmail yourself, according to instructions in INSTALL.
