Yes. Courier tarpits all SMTP errors, including user unknown. Check your mail logs.
What am I looking for in the logs? I don't see anything about tarpits.
But even with the tarpit in place you shouldn't be seeing so much crap coming through.
Unless you've installed a virtual domain alias catch-all.
It's not "coming through" anymore (I turned off the alias that it was running), but it still looks like a fair amount of annoying traffic, not to mention crap filling up my logs.
