Worse than that, I had problems with getting mail at all, even when reconnecting. The IMAP clients would just "hang" and never report any errors. The log had a dearth of information. This would all start after about 24-48 hours of usage by about 120 users. I never tracked down exactly what caused it, and I couldn't duplicate it after taking the server out of production, but I would recommend using a different distribution.
