There is no need to mess around with the /usr/lib/courier/rootcerts directory unless you're using client certificates. I just have a line like this:
TLS_TRUSTCERTS=/etc/courier/certs/chain.pem
The file "chain.pem" is the "sf_issuing.crt" file copied and pasted from the starfieldtech website. It needs to be owned by the courier user with permissions 0600.
