I'm afraid that I'm not aware of any Courier books.

You are warned at the start of the installation manual
to "Read this document in its entirety before entering
a single command".  And you are best to heed this
warning!  However, the install info alone currently is
missing some things (like information on the esmtphelo
file...), so I'd further recommend reading every man
page before issuing a single command as well.  And
then re-read all of these things before you upgrade to
a new version.  And before you build/install it on a
different machine...  But whatever you do, again read
the entire website and all of the source code before
you dare post to the courier-users list :-P

Of course, if you decide to go with Courier, I'm sure
friendly people like Bill and Michelle would be happy
to help you!!! 

In all seriousness, the system is very fully featured
and I do prefer it to any other "complete" mail system
that I've looked at.
