testmaildirfilter most certainly gets linked against libpcre, but, looking at the Makefile a bit closer, I know why you're getting this error. It has something to do with the specific version of GNU ld Suse uses, if it uses GNU ld at all. I wouldn't be surprised if, instead of GNU ld, it turns out that Suse uses some oddball linker, without really having a good reason to do so.
