Dear Group.
I would like to share few ideas with the group.I am newbie to courier and my experice with courier is for last 2 month. Well if you already have this probelm just ignore it. I think this can help newbies like me.
I found courier-imap server is a good and fast for IMAP protocol. The problem I found with courier was Microsoft Outlook Express's poor responce to Courier-Imaps Virtual-shared folders. After a lot of trial-and-error method I had found out how to tackle this problem. I am using courier-0.52.1 on my FC3 Release of GNU/Linux Machine.
The problem was with accessing imap shared-folder with ACL enabled. So here is the step to move forward.
configurations.
After setting up the imap server with multiple virtual domain having, multiple-virtual user with in it.Each users having different acl permissions on different virtual folders which are shared{you can check the integrity using Mozilla base mail client}. You need to do the following steps in OE to get the same.
Suppose a user [EMAIL PROTECTED] is accessing shared folder of [EMAIL PROTECTED]
1)From tools/account menu select the mail tab.
2)Add the user account [EMAIL PROTECTED] the last stage of adding, Dont give the password as of now.
3)Finish the process and search the left column whether the account just made had displayed or not.
Here the user Shyam's private folder is exported, let me say,Open and Close
5)Now save and close the tab.
6)Outlook will now ask whether to export the directories or not.
Please note: ONLY at this moment we answer yes.
7)Now next is the most tricky part. from the step(4),as I described go to the IMAP tab.
8)Now you need to change the
to
#shared
10)Again Outlook will ask for exporting another the mail folders from server. Please give Yes at this
It will export all the shared-folders from courier-imap server. it will display message like in Mozilla base
I didn't check the stablilty and scalability of this process. If any body face some funny problem, please
I am not sure whether this piece of information was useful or not.
Thanks for reading this mail.
Have a great day
Regards
Shyam
