Sam,

I've been using Mandrake 10.1 and I followed the install instructions with
only option of --with-redhat only (I believe -- I didn't keep exact notes on
what I did) since the config script recommended it. I did'nt give a second
thought to be a problem with the installation since the script had
recommended it and that everything appeared to work fine after the install
except for sendmail. I did have problems getting the webadmin to properly
work but I believe that was the because of some of my apache server issues,
which I'm still working on. That's all I did to get the sendmail
permissions set like that. I assure you I didn't change permissions
manually or use any other options in the configuration.

I had my Redhat server die on me recently and I needed to get my e-mail
working again and I wanted to give courier a try. It appears to be working
fine and I like what I see so far. Thanks for the good work on courier.

Just a thought ... during the installation I saw comments about BSD
installation checks or queries. I know Mandrake is closer to RedHat than
any other distribution as I have read. This might be a clue. I guess I
could reattempt another install to give you more detail of what I did ...
but I don't have a replacement SCSI drive for my Redhat server to handle my
e-mail. So, I have to leave it as it is for now until I get that server
running again. The Mandrake 10.1 I'm using was solely to be used as a large
storage center, not e-mail.
Thanks for you help,
Bruce

Then you need to explain exactly which installation instructions you were
following.
