Thank you very much for the point! I didn't think about it.

I suspect that the remote server has a temporary not a permanent
problem with STARTTLS. I have to do more tests to check it.

I'll try to grep the maillog and send you the results.

BTW, do all MTAs put information about TLS/SSL in the Received: 
headers?
