This error looks more serious. I'd say that this confirms your earlier
message that *something* is broken on your box. But as for what it is,
I have no idea.
The glibc installed on the system is a different major revision than the
system's libraries were compiled against. It's almost certainly the
reason that rpm crashes, and probably responsible for a host of other
problems that we don't know about.
I'd be surprised if the host survives a reboot. :(
