Recent versions of courier provide SPF support and backscatter
surpression.

While SPF gives you a possibility to "authenticate" the senders server,
backscatter supression surpresses DSN double bounces.

Please have a look an the courier manpage for further information.

In case of SPF the sender domain needs to set up a dns record, see
http://spf.pobox.com/ .
