Gordon, as Bill said in todays message, his filter was running (therefore present in ps output), yet wrong pipe permitions caused system to not function. I believe, that there may be a number of reasons (from programming errors to resource shortage) why filter do not answer courier request. Therefore, if logs would provide accurate information which filter is guilty, one would not need a crystall ball to find out where to fix (if ps doesn't help). Even more, this `crystall ball' is most needed when person sets filters for the first time. Unfortunately, due lack of experience at that time, magic device works least efficient. Simple log line stating which pipe returned what error would tell admin to look at his filter and not to blame courier. -- Aidas Kasparas IT administrator GM Consult Group, UAB ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
