This is what fetchmail is for. However, this is a completely broken process, for many reasons that have been discussed many times for at least ten years. But if that's what you want to do, you can hack something up with fetchmail. But this whole way of getting mail is fundamentally broken, and just because you did not run into any problems in the last X years doesn't mean that tomorrow you're not going to get a message with weird headers that will completely barf up whatever you're using to download it from a POP3 mailbox.
