Have you filled a bug to bugs.gentoo.org about this, because this looks 
like this is problem with your system.

Besides all Gentoo users should post bugs to there. The maintainer of 
the package will send the bug/patch upstream if needed.

Even more so, because your situation seams to be related to multiple 
packages and to your own script.
