you are right gordon. i've just thought about that because i knew this
configuration from postfix ldap_table. as you said, there isn't a real
benefit by changing configuration that way... and i won't bother you
anymore with such questions :)

thank you for all answers, and i'm still happy to have a running courier
imap/pop server.
