I'm using LDAP as user DB and authentication mechanism.
The system comes back to work properly after few minutes.
I have daemons="300" in my /etc/courier/authdaemonrc. Is this correct?

What does this error means? Should I add a CPU to the system?

I have Debian with Debian's courier packages:

ii courier-authdaemon 0.47-4sarge5 Courier Mail

No, you should upgrade to a non-prehistoric version of Courier. This is ancient, obsolete code that nobody uses any more. 300 authentication daemons should be plenty even for aol.com; but this ancient code does not have the logging functions that would provide additional information to diagnose something like this.
