Wait, if you are saying that you did not build Courier yourself, but have installed some pre-built package, then you'll have to check that package's documentation, or contact its maintainer, regarding any issues. I don't know how that package was configured or built, or what went into it, only whoever did that knows that. There's probably a separate add-on package that adds the mysql module, but that's just a guess.

In authdaemonrc:
authmodulelist="authmysql"

Well, you can put whatever you want in here, but if the mysql module was not built, it won't do you any good.
