when I tried to stop courierfilter yesterday it showed an 'Alarm' message after about 3 seconds. Coourierfilter didn't stop and re-issuing the stop command just resulted in the same message. I'm running pythonfilter only and pythonfilter writes a .lock file in /var/lib/courier/allfilters. But I also had a .lock file in /var/lib/courier/filters and it seems that 'courierfilter stop' didn't try or success to remove this file. Once I deleted /var/lib/courier/filters/.lock manually and disabled the pythonfilter I could start and stop courierfilter without problem. After enabling pythonfilter again I could normally start courierfilter. Could you please verify this? Thanks!
