Install strace and see if you can trace one of the processes. strace -f -s256 -p <PID> -o /tmp/courieresmtp.trace Let it trace the process for a couple of seconds, and then cancel it with Ctrl+C. The contents of /tmp/courieresmtp.trace should tell us something about the problem. Compress that file and put it somewhere that we can access it.
